A closed mouth doesn't get fed....

Today is election day so there was no school.  I spent the vast majority of my day doing something I've never done before---solicit local businesses for donations for this program.  I have a vision of where I want to go, where I want to take this, but it's virtually impossible without financial backing.  I typed up a donation letter, made copies of it, and went on my way hoping for a blessing from the sky.  However, I found out it wasn't as easy as I thought it was.
My first stop was Belk department store in Gwinnett Place Mall.  First of all, I was unquestionably nervous; asking for money is something I've never been comfortable with doing.  I even have a hard time asking for money from my parents.  As a matter of fact, I don't recall the last time I asked my mother and father for money.  Anyway, my meeting with the Human Resources and Community Outreach Director at Belk didn't go as I expected.  I thought I could go in there, tell him about my program, and he would write me a big, fat check for whatever amount I needed.  Didn't happen like that.  He did, however, give me some tickets to sell for $5 a piece.  For each ticket sold, I would keep all the profit.  In exchange, the buyer of the ticket would come to the store this weekend, with ticket in hand, and receive exclusive deals on merchandise.  It's worth a try. I also went to Macy's, and a few other random stores in the mall and asked for charitable donations all to no avail.  Needless to say, I'm a little disappointed but I'll keep trying.  A closed mouth doesn't get fed...

***I've got to get some pictures on the this thing***
