Tuesday Meeting: First CPR lesson

Imagine your friend is gasping and flailing around in a pool. They're sinking under, gulping down mouthfuls of water and then suddenly, they stop moving. Would you be able to save that friend/? This is why people learn CPR. It's not just so they can show off that they know, but even more about  helping someone, because if you were that friend, you'd be completely dependent on the people around you. And I'm sure you would prefer if some of those people were CPR certified , because those are the people that could keep you alive until an ambulance arrives.
This week, the our meeting focused less on hygenial things and more on medical aspects. During this gathering we learned about CPR which is an acronym for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
The objective of this technique is to get the victim breathing. The steps of this are as follows:
1. Tap or shake the victim and ask if the person is ok.
2. If the person does not respond, tell someone to call 911.
3.Open the airway by lifting the head tof the person by tilting their head back and lifting the chin.
4. Check if the victim is breathing.
5. Blow into the victims mouth 2 times for 1 second each.
6. Then, put the heel of one hand on the sternum, the bone between the ribs, and put the other hand over it. Give 30 quick but moderately hard compressions.
7.Repeat the cycle of mouth blows and compressions until the victim is breathing or an ambulance arrives.
These are the steps to take that could save someone's life.

I suggest taking CPR lessons yourself, because the next victim may be your friend. Remember, anything can happen.
